Following the release two days ago of the Mulan silver and gold coins, the New Zealand Mint today released the Merinda gold ¼ oz Disney Princess coin.
Merinda 1/4 oz Gold Coin
The 22mm proof coin features the Disney Princess Merinda, from the 2012 animated feature “Brave”, holding her bow surrounded by thistle blossoms. The obverse of the coin depicts the right facing bust of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is struck from .9999 Fine gold and is released in an attractive wood-like presentation case.
This numismatic coin bears a face value of $25 and will have a limited mintage of 1000 coins. At the time of release the coin was listed for $600.00 on the New Zealand Mint's website.
There is also a 1 oz silver variant available of this design. The silver Merinda coin has a coloured finish is suggested to retail for $80.00. The coins form part of the ongoing Disney Princess series and are issued by the New Zealand Mint on behalf of the island nation of Niue.
