The United States Mint has now released individual numismatic products for the Effigy Mounds National Monument Quarter Dollar coin in the form of coin rolls and bags.
The coin forms a part of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program and is the first individual issue for the series of 2017, following the release of the America the Beautiful five coin proof set in January. The Effigy Mounds National Monument Quarter Dollar coin is the 36th coin to be released in the collection overall.
Effigy Mound National Park - Marching Bear Group
The coin series is meant to “capture the breathtaking beauty of America’s natural landscapes” with this coin being dedicated to the Effigy Mounds National Monument site in Iowa. The site preserves a group of more than two hundred raised earthworks or mounds built by prehistoric native American tribes. Some of these are believed to be as old as 2700 years with others having been constructed up to the 13th century. The later effigy mounds are in the shapes of animals, such as bears, birds and snakes.

The reverse of the 2017 Effigy Mounds National Monument Quarter Dollar coin depicts a section of the Marching Bear Group of effigy mounds that are protected at the National site in Iowa. This section has two bears and a single bird, likely an eagle or falcon. The legend appears along the rim and reads "EFFIGY MOUNDS", "IOWA", "2017" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM".
The obverse depicts the 1932 portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan, which is standard on all US quarter dollar coins. The obverse legend reads : “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA:, “QUARTER DOLLAR”, “LIBERTY” and “IN GOD WE TRUST”.

As of February 6th 2017 uncirculated 2017 Effigy Mounds National Monument Quarter Dollar coins are available to order directly from the US Mint in 40 coin rolls for the San Francisco produced “S” mintmark coins, for $18.95 per roll. The Philadelphia and Denver Mint coins bearing the “P” and “D” mintmarks are two roll sets(P + D) as well as a three roll set containing 40 coin rolls for the “P”, “D” and “S” mintmark coins. The US Mint is selling these 'sets' at release for $32.95 and $46.95 each respectively.

The special numismatic wrapping for each of the 40 coin rolls displays the name "Effigy Mounds National Monument" as well as the abbreviation "IA" for Iowa, "$10" which is the face value of its contents and finally a "P", "D", or "S" for the mint of origin.
There is also an official US Mint branded canvas bag containing one hundred coins available for each of the three mintmarks. These 100 coin bags are being sold for $34.95 and are attached to a tag with "Effigy Mounds National Monument”, "IA" and "P", "D", or "S" printed on it to describe the contents.

While all three variants(P/D/S) are legal tender, only the coins stemming from the Denver and Philadelphia facilities will be released into general circulation. Leaving the San Francisco “S” mintmark coins being minted exclusively as a numismatic product.
