The United States Mint has released the 2016 Presidential Dollars Three-Coin Sets. The two sets, one for the Denver Mint and one for the Philadelphia Mint, each contain the last three circulating commemorative presidential dollar coins.
USA 2016 Presidential Dollar Three Coin Set
The coins are regular business strikes but have been reserved to be released as part of these sets and thus have never entered into circulation. Each set contains the three 2016 dated Presidential Dollar coins with the portraits of Presidents Richard M. Nixon, Gerald R. Ford, and finally Ronald Reagan.
As with the rest of the series the three coins share a common reverse design featuring a striking rendition of the Statue of Liberty, so well known to both coin collectors by now. These coins feature edge–incused inscriptions of the year of minting or issuance, with a reverse legend that reads :“E PLURIBUS UNUM” with the mint mark(either “P” Philadelphia or “D” for Denver), “IN GOD WE TRUST”.

Richard M. Nixon:
This design features an image of Richard M. Nixon with the inscriptions “RICHARD M. NIXON,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “37th PRESIDENT” and “1969 – 1974.”
USA 2016 Gerald Ford Presidential Dollar Coin Obverse
Gerald R. Ford:
This design features an image of Gerald Ford with the inscriptions “GERALD R. FORD,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “38th PRESIDENT” and “1974 – 1977.”
USA 2016 Ronald Reagan Presidential Dollar Coin Obverse
Ronald Reagan:
This design features an image of Ronald Reagan with the inscriptions “RONALD REAGAN,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “40th PRESIDENT,” and “1981 – 1989.”
The sets are available for order directly from the US Mint's website for $11.95 each. While the individual coins contained in the set carry no specific minting limit, the production limit on the sets will be placed at 15 000 units per mint.
USA 2016 Presidential Dollar Coins
All in all not a bad keepsake if all you are interested in are the presidential dollars. However, keeping in mind that these are business strike coins and that the complete 2016 proof set can be obtained for US$31.95. Or more poignant that the P +D Uncirculated sets can be obtained for $26.95 for both, one has to wonder at the true value of the three coin set on it's own. The proof set and the uncirculated(Mint) sets contain the complete circulating thirteen coin set for 2016 and not just the three presidential dollars. Far greater 'bang for your buck' not to mention that the proof and mint sets will surely be more sought after by collectors in years to come. Then again if all you want is to complete your presidential dollar set and keep them in a nice looking Official US Mint packaging, by all means go for it.
