The great Serengeti migration is the annual movement of vast numbers of zebra and wildebeest. The timing of the migration is dependent on rainfall and the purpose is to seek fresh grazing plains and water.

Each year around 1.5 million wildebeest and 300,000 zebra start their long, clockwise journey from Tanzania’s Serengeti Plains to Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve. This difficult journey, that covers the vast distance of around 2,900 km (1800 miles), brings with it severe dangers, and many animals are lost along the way.
