Having already released both the proof and silver sets earlier in the year, the US Mint has now also released the America the Beautiful Quarter dollar 2017 uncirculated coin set.
Unlike the set's proof counterparts, which each contain five coins from the San Francisco mint, this set included a total of ten coins. Two of each of the five 2017 America the Beautiful quarter dollar coins, one each from the Denver and Philadelphia mints.
As the name might indicate the coins included in the set are of an uncirculated quality, all housed in a custom printed blister pack. The card also serves as the certificate of authenticity and fully describes each coin design represented.
The America the Beautiful Quarter Dollar program honours national parks and sites throughout the United States, at a pace of five new coins per year. The program first started in 2010 and is set to run through to at least 2021.
Each coin in the series features a common obverse (heads) with the 1932 portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan, restored to bring out subtle details and the beauty of the original model.
The five designs featured are as follows :
Effigy Mounds National Monument
This design depicts an aerial view of mounds in the Marching Bear Group.
Frederick Douglass National Historic Site
This design depicts Frederick Douglass seated at a writing desk, with his home in Washington, DC, in the background.
Ozark National Scenic Riverways
This design depicts Alley Mill, a steel roller mill built in 1894. The merchant mill was used to convert wheat into flour. Much of the original milling equipment is still in place, and visitors to the park can tour the mill.
Ellis Island (Statue of Liberty National Monument)
This design depicts an immigrant family approaching Ellis Island with a mixture of hope and uncertainty. The hospital building can be seen in the background.
George Rogers Clark National Historical Park
This design depicts George Rogers Clark leading his men through the flooded plains approaching Fort Sackville.
The US Mint is now selling these sets for $12.95 per set, directly from their website.
