The Perth Mint has just released details for the Australian bullion coin program for 2017. The 2017 program details the release of no less than 26 bullion coins across five different series struck in three different precious metals.
Although the release differs little from previous years on a surface level the coins can be largely grouped into two sections. The first would be the coins that have received new or updated designs. These would be :
The Australian Kangaroo gold coin design depicts Australia’s most iconic native animal bounding through the outback.
Gold and silver Australian Lunar coin designs mark the Year of the Rooster – the 10th animal in the Chinese zodiac.
The new Australian Kookaburra silver coin design portrays two kookaburras perched on a wooden fence.
The latest Australian Koala silver coin design features a koala sitting at the base of a eucalyptus tree.
The second group include the coins that will retain the design that we have seen in past years but only the date of issue will be updated to read 2017, of these will be :
The Australian Kangaroo 1 kilo gold bullion coin,
The Australian Kangaroo 1oz silver bullion coin,
and then finally the Australian Platypus 1oz platinum bullion coin.
The coins will differ in seizes from 1/20oz all the way up to a 10 kilogram coin. Mintage figures and expected initial release dates are detailed below:
The coins that are not listed in the mintage figure tab above have no maximum mintage figure and the total mintage will be determined by market demand.
All of the above detailed bullion coins can be obtained directly from the Perth Mint upon release, and WNN will bring you updated and more detailed reports of these closer to the actual release dates.
