Following on the successful conclusion of the Native Orchids of Singapore Series last year the Singapore Mint have decided to issue a special collectors set entitled The Splendour of Native Orchids Series.
The Native Orchids of Singapore coin series ran from 2011 to 2015 and issued ten 1oz silver $5 coins each featuring a different orchid species native to Singapore. The series was meant to celebrate the beauty of the orchids that once thrived throughout Singapore, some of which can still found in the forests to this day.
The Splendour of Native Orchids Set will feature the same colourised designs of the Native Orchids coins but will this time be issued as a single set of ten ¼ oz silver $1 coins.
The reverse of each proof coin will feature the scientific name of each orchid in accordance wit binomial nomenclature. The orchid itself is brightly colourized and slightly offset to the right of each coin. The remaining reverse legend on each coin reads “999 FINE SILVER” and “$1”.

All of the coins have a shared obverse depicting the coat of arms of the Republic of Singapore. Each of the coins will be struck from pure .999 Fineness silver. The 24.66mm coins will weigh 8.56gram each. The sets will be released at S$400.00, or about US$290.00 with a limited mintage of 4000 sets.
