Joining the deluge of Shakespeare themed coins this year as we commemorate the bard's death 400 years ago is the Czech Mint with their contribution to the theme.
The rather attractive coin simply features William Shakespeare's bust with his name as the legend to the left and his signature in the field. The Chech Mint chose to celebrate Mr Shakespeare with a proof ½ oz gold coin of .9999 Fineness. The coin has a plain edge and measures 28mm in diameter. The coin is issued encapsulated and arrives in a burgundy leather display case. Mintage is limited to a meager 200 coins.
The reverse design shows the Globe Theater where most of Shakespeare's plays were performed with the right facing bust of Queen Elizabeth in cameo at the center. The coin is a 25 Dollar legal tender collectors coin minted under the authority of Niue Island.
At the time of release the coin was available on the Chech Mint's website for €738(roughly US$835)
