Similar to previous years the eight coin set contains all five of the 2017 America the beautiful quarter dollar coins honouring the Effigy Mounds National Monument (Iowa), Frederick Douglass National Historic Site (District of Columbia), Ozark National Scenic Riverways (Missouri), Ellis Island (New Jersey), and George Rogers Clark National Historical Park (Indiana).

The set also hold silver versions of the 2017 Kennedy Half dollar coin and the 2017 silver Roosevelt dime. These seven proof coins are all struck from .900 Fineness silver, in accordance with US law.

These seven coins are also joined by a special proof version of the American Silver Eagle one ounce coin. Unlike previous years though the silver dollar does not bear the ā€œWā€ mint mark for the West Point Mint, but rather it shares the ā€œSā€ mint mark that is found on the rest of the coins in the set.

This is noteworthy because the only other place that the Proof Silver Eagle with the San Fransisco Mint Mark could be obtained from was the 2017 Congratulations set that managed to sell out it's mintage of 75 000 coins in less than 2 minutes at the mint in early April of 2017.

The Silver Eagle is the only coin in the set that is struck from .999 Fineness silver, although all of the coins are treated to a brilliant proof finish.

The sets can be ordered directly from the US Mint's website, although the mint has chosen to set a household order limit of two sets per order in an attempt to avoid the frenzy that overtook the aforementioned congratulations set. The Limited Edition 2017 Silver Proof Set has a maximum mintage of 50 000 sets, and the mint is releasing them at a price of $139.95 per set.

The set is housed in packaging identical to that of previous years with a matte finish black outer box with silver trim, set against the black and white depiction of the American flag in the protective lens.
