The 2016 edition of the series is no exception, and is entitled 'Fighting Fish'. The series which started in 2014, making this only the third installment, combines exquisite coin design with cutting edge minting technology and a limited mintage to produce highly sought after coins. Also in this reporter's opinion some of the most strikingly beautiful coins in recent memory.

Produced with the help of the Coin Invest Trust’s revolutionary minting process that they are referring to as “smartminting and micro-minting laser technology”.  The stunning relief and unrivaled detail is immediately self evident. You might even be forgiven for thinking that the coin's subject will at any moment come to life and leap out of the coin and into being.

The 2016 Shades of Nature 5 Dollar Coin from the Cook Islands is entitled “Fighting Fish” and features a Siamese Fighting Fish in an underwater environment. The gold clad silver coin is issued in a luxurious wooden display box.

The coin is struck of pure silver(.999 Fineness) and is gilded with a gold finish with only the fish parts of the lettering remaining in silver. This combined with the extremely fine detail and proof finish gives the coin amazing eye appeal.
